Outside city limits
Scenic Oaks is an unincorporated community, so trash service comes from private haulers rather than a city program. Texas Public Radio reported in August 2024:
- Unincorporated Bexar County has no county-run garbage service; residents choose a private hauler and pay a fee. Texas Public Radio
- Residents outside the city have three routes for bulky items: paying their own hauler for curb pickup, using a homeowner's association neighborhood bulky collection, or paying a landfill fee. Texas Public Radio
- County health officials said expanded bulk pickup could reduce illegal dumping in unincorporated areas. Texas Public Radio
