How city brush collection actually works
Every city handles brush differently, and the limits are smaller than most people expect:
- San Antonio: brush is collected at the curb twice a year per address; accepted are shrubs, tree branches and woody vines, and grass clippings, plastic-bagged leaves, and soil and rocks are refused. Piles are capped at 8 cubic yards within 8 feet of the curb.
- Helotes: bulk and brush in even-numbered months (April, June, August, October, December) by zone, in separate piles, up to 12 cubic yards combined.
- Live Oak: brush and bulk begin in the first full week of each month, citywide, with items at the curb before Monday.
- Castle Hills: brush is collected Wednesdays only — three piles a week, limbs no larger than three inches across.
- Universal City: weekly brush and bulk, up to four cubic yards from the front curb.
After a storm, or when you've cleared a whole yard, you're over those limits and between pickups. That's when people call us. More detail on the Bexar County page.

A small pile can be a single-item price from $95; a full yard cleanup is usually a half trailer from $345, and heavy storm debris can fill a full trailer from $595. Send a photo and we'll confirm the price before we start.
